ultra-short throw (UST) projectors can occupy considerable space, which may be impractical for smaller living areas. This context fueled my enthusiasm upon encountering the JMGO 02S Ultra at CES, which the manufacturer claims to be “the smallest laser TV in the world.”
This compact UST projector, with dimensions akin to a shoebox (12.3 x 11.4 x 5.5 inches), is equipped with a tri-color laser light source, delivering a nominal brightness of 2500 ISO lumens. It offers an impressive 110% coverage of the BT.2020 color gamut, along with a stated contrast ratio of 1800:1, enabling it to project a 100-inch image from a mere 5.75 inches away. Notably, during the CES exhibition, even in the absence of drapery or other obstructions to mitigate the impact of bright overhead lighting, the image quality of the 02S Ultra remained strikingly bright and vividly colorful.
In line with many other UST projectors unveiled at CES, the 02S Ultra incorporates automatic calibration capabilities for keystone correction, focus adjustment, and screen fitting. It operates on the Google TV smart platform for streaming content and supports Dolby Vision high dynamic range. While pricing details were not disclosed at the event, the 02S Ultra is anticipated to be released globally in the fourth quarter of 2025.
