CES 2023 – Projector Reviews Trade Show Report

CES 2023 Projector Highlights

Over the years, CES has shifted from being mainly product-focused to a platform where companies showcase future strategies. For example, Sony didn’t announce any TVs or audio products this year—instead, they highlighted their latest concept car.

Some major projector brands, like Epson and Optoma, didn’t have public product displays at CES 2023. Still, a few notable projectors were introduced at the show.

Hisense Leads the Way

Hisense had the largest projector presence at CES 2023. As the pioneer of the “Laser TV” category, Hisense continues to push forward with ultra-short throw smart laser projectors designed to replace traditional TVs. These often come with ambient light-rejecting (ALR) screens.

New Announcements from Hisense:

  • Four new Laser TV and Laser Cinema models

  • A Smart Mini-Projector designed for casual or first-time projector users

World’s First 8K Laser TV – Hisense 120LX

Hisense also unveiled the world’s first 8K Laser TV, the 120LX, publicly demoed at CES. (Samsung also announced an 8K Premiere UST projector in a private event, but it wasn’t shown on the floor.)

Key Features of the Hisense 120LX:

  • Native 4K UHD DLP chip (.94″ DMD) with Texas Instruments’ XPR tech for 8K onscreen resolution

  • Supports 8K@60fps and 4K@120fps

  • Larger chip offers better contrast and black levels

  • TriChroma laser light source with 4000 lumens

  • Covers 100% of BT2020 color space

  • Produces 400+ nits brightness on a bundled 120″ ALR screen

  • Dolby Vision, IMAX Enhanced, and Harman Kardon audio system

  • Audio supports Dolby Atmos and DTS Virtual:X

While the unit shown wasn’t the final version, Hisense confirmed a production model would launch by 2024.
