H7550ST Projector Overview
The Acer H7550ST comes with some nice extras—two 3D glasses, a soft carrying case, a remote with batteries, a VGA cable, power cord, security card, and guides on CD and paper. Those 3D glasses normally cost about $40 on eBay, but cheaper off-brand versions are available on Amazon. Just make sure to get DLP Link Active Shutter 3D glasses.
This short-throw projector offers decent placement flexibility. You can mount it on the ceiling, in front of the screen, or behind it. It has a manual 1.1:1 zoom lens, which gives you some room to adjust—about 6 inches of zoom when projecting a 100” image. I placed mine about 4.5 feet from the couch on a small table, and it worked perfectly for a coffee-table setup.
There’s a button on the front that pops out a small foot to tilt the lens up for higher screens. While it doesn’t have fancy lens shift like pricier models (which I missed), the foot and Keystone Correction helped me get a perfect image on my 92” screen. If you mount it on the ceiling, you won’t need the foot.
The best picture modes are Standard, Movie, and Dark Cinema—they deliver bright colors, decent blacks, and natural skin tones, even in daylight. The Game mode is bright and responsive, with a low input lag of 38.2 ms, which felt great playing RPGs and FPS games.
Overall, the Acer H7550ST is a solid value, especially since it often sells for about $100 less than MSRP. Despite lacking lens shift, it’s user-friendly and offers good picture quality for HDTV, Blu-ray, and gaming. It’s a great entry-level projector for beginners or anyone wanting quality without breaking the bank.
