However, more segments usually mean less light is going through each slice, so there’s always a balance between color accuracy and brightness. DLP Projector Benefits
DLP projectors, like the Optoma EH330UST, are usually more compact and portable than 3LCD models. They also give you more white brightness for your money, which helps when presenting in rooms with a lot of ambient light—especially with content like documents and spreadsheets that have white backgrounds.
On the other hand, 3LCD projectors offer better color vibrancy because they produce equal color and white brightness. But they tend to cost more. So if accurate color in bright rooms isn’t a top priority, DLP could be the better value.
Another advantage of DLP projectors is their sealed light paths. This prevents dust from entering the optics and creating “dust blobs” (dark spots on your image). Cleaning those blobs would require costly maintenance. While some 3LCD projectors now also offer sealed light paths, the technology works differently.
Lamp Life
The EH330UST’s lamp can last up to 15,000 hours in Dynamic Mode, 10,000 hours in Eco Mode, and 4,000 hours at full power. Eco Modes are great if your room lighting is well-controlled, but they do reduce brightness—so may not be ideal in brightly lit rooms.
